The story of a River of Jaflong in Bangladesh
We started our drive on a micro bus at morning 6 am
is from Sylhet town, a popular tourist destination in Bangladesh.
Jaflong is about 60 km from Sylhet town .It takes two hours drives to
reach there. But we can’t reach there in time.We stopped another few
places to see natural beauty on the way.
We can not avoid the call of Jaflong. It’s a hill
station. But the Piyain River is the main attraction of this tourist
destination. You can ride the tourist boats to go the Indian border
& Hill Khashia where lives in the tribal community. But you can’t
cross the border.
It makes a popular tourist spot on the Hill,River & Boats combined . But most of the boats are not for the tourists.
More than two hundred little boats are busy to collect
stone from the river bed everyday. A hues number of local people with
women & children enters the Piyain River to collect stones which
come from the hill.
They want to cross the no-man’s land of
India-Bangladesh border. But most of the time they failed because it is a
embarrassing talking point among Bangladesh and India.
About 5,000 people engaged there & it is the main
income source of them. At least 200 machines were engaged in crushing
the stones and sold around the Bangladesh.

The waves of the Bay of Bengal divided between three maritime boundaries now. The verdicts
on two international courts resolved maritime disputes among India, Bangladesh

In 2008 & 2012 , Bangladesh called International bidding in 28 blocks of the deep sea
water , but failed to adequately attract
international oil and gas exploration bidders. Only the ConocoPhillips, a leading American
oil and gas company attended as bidder and signed a production and sharing
contract (PSC) with Bangladesh.
“Undisputed maritime boundaries of Bangladesh

Dr. Hossain Monsur, Chairman of Bangladesh Oil, Gas and Mineral Corporation, the
concerned authority of this international bidding, known as
Petrobangla.

As the filed case of UN Permanent Court of Arbitration, “on October 8,
2009, Bangladesh instituted arbitral proceedings concerning the delimitation of

7 July 2014- The Netherlands

(PCA) gave their verdict on the disputed area of the Bay of Bengal, awarding
the greater share of it to Bangladesh.
In its verdict, binding on both countries, the court awarded 19,467 square
kilometers (7,516 square miles), from a total disputed area of 25,602, to India's smaller
neighbor.
In 2012, Bangladesh resolved
a similar maritime boundaries dispute with neighboring Myanmar, with a ruling made by the InternationalTribunal on the Law of the Sea in Hamburg.
India discovered a new gas
field at the western part of Bangladesh
maritime boundaries, located in Mahanadi
basin. Local public oil and gas company ONGC discovered 5 to 7 Trillion cubic
feet-(TCF)s . On the other hand, Myanmar
discovered gas fields in eastern maritime boundaries of Bangladesh 7 to
10 TCF with assistance from a Korean oil and gas company.
A decade back, India
discovered another big gas field in Krishna-Godavari
Basin, the midpoint of Bangladesh and Sri Lanka with assistance from
their local company Reliance. India
has been producing 2.1 billion cubic feet per day from different fields in
Dhirubhai deep-water blocks in the Bay from 2009 which already has 25 trillion
cubic feet (TCF)s of gases.
Prof. Dr. MD. Kawser Ahmed, the Chairman of Oceanography Department of
Dhaka University agrees that Bangladesh
will explore new gas fields in the disputed gas blocks in the Bays.
‘We will discover at least 30 trillion cubic feet -TCF natural gases which Bangladesh can
use for next three decades’, Prof.
Kawser said based on the assessment study of United States Geological Survey (USGS) in 2001. “This assessment showed the
outlook that Bangladeshi maritime boundaries will have a 30 to 50 TCF gas
reserve’s, he added overwhelmingly.
In 2008 & 2012, the last international
bidding time of Bangladesh in the bays, there were 28 blocks, each having
exploration areas of between 3,000 to 7,000 Sq km. ConocoPhillips is in the process
of exploring oil and gas in their two assigned blocks which has 5 to 7 TCF
gases as per their Three dimensional sysmic survey. After the latest PCA
verdict, another 6 blocks are fully ready where international bidders can
participate for exploration
What are
the next in Bays ?
The way of India
& Myanmar, Bangladesh wants to get economical benefit from
the deep water in the Bay of Bengal .
“We will go for International bidding within December 2014 to explore of the
deep marine waters of the Bay of Bengal”, said Dr. Hossain Monsur, Chairman of
Bangladesh Oil, Gas and Mineral Corporation (PETROBANGLA) on behalf of the
Government of Bangladesh..
Hossain Monsur disclosed to The Third Pole, “We want to make the international
bidding terms and conditions easier than Myanmar”. He thinks, International
oil & gas exploration companies was more liked to Myanmar than Bangladesh
because of their terms & condition of production and sharing contract (PSC)
.
There is no dispute on maritime blocks
whatsoever with India and Myanmar. Any
international company may bid without worrying much”, he added.
Bangladesh
is an energy hungry country, now faced with a shortage of 500 Million Cubic Feet
gases per day and it may alarmingly increase in future. But deep water resources may solve their energy crisis and change the economy of this most vulnerable of climate change country.

Bangladesh plans to go
International bidding
for exploration of disputed maritime blocks
By Sanjoy Chaki.
Dhaka,Bangladesh,17.07.2014
Bangladesh Energy Ministry plans to go International
bidding in December this year for oil and gas exploration in the disputed deep water
blocks of the Bay of Bengal. The concern
Bangladeshi government official confirmed that now they are working on new bidding
documents.
“We will go for International bidding within December 2014 to explore of the
deep marine waters of the Bay of Bengal”, said
Dr. Hossain Monsur, Chairman of Bangladesh Oil, Gas and Mineral Corporation (PETROBANGLA) on behalf of the Government
of Bangladesh, the concerned government authority.
He disclosed, “We want to make the international bidding terms and conditions
easier than Myanmar”.
But at the same time, we can explore any of the offshore blocks by our
government company BAPEX. “There is no dispute on maritime blocks whatsoever
with India and Myanmar. Any
international company may bid without worrying much”, he added.
7 July 2014- The Netherlands

“It is a great opportunity for future economy of Bangladesh '',
said Salim Mahmud, one of a members of Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission
(BERC). Now Bangladesh can easily open up its
deep water for foreign oil and gas companies to explore for hydrocarbons. “In
the bay, there are prospects in plenty and in abundance”, he added in praise of
this maritime victory.
India discovered a new gas

All three energy and oceanography experts
pointed out Bangladesh is now fully dependent on foreign oil and gas company to
explore their disputed offshore of Bay of as unfortunately we don’t have local
supports for exploration at the offshore. The only public company BAPEX has the onshore exploration
experience.

“Why i will stop Carbon Emissions , I will stop if you … if he …..”,You are bargaining with each others like this.
I can’t fully disagree the four demands & debate. But what is going
on in USA & develop world to stop Carbon Emissions which are the
main cause of Climate change ? What is happening the many develop &
developing countries in Asia,Africa,Europe,Latin & North America who
are the victims of Climate change ?
I think you should know, ”It is
projected that, by 2020, from 500 to 750 million people will be
affected by water stress caused by climate change around the world.
Low-lying coastal regions, such as Bangladesh, are vulnerable to sea
level rise.
I surely believe you can’t avoid statements of U.S. Environmental Protection Agency-EPA.
EPA rightly pointed out the impacts of Climate change from various
study. They focused their website,by 2030, increased drought and fire is
projected to cause declines in agricultural and forestry production
over much of southern and eastern Australia and parts of eastern New
Zealand.
In many African countries, other factors already threaten
human health. For example, malaria threatens health in southern Africa
and the East African highlands.
Sickness and death due to diarrheal
disease are projected to increase in east, south, and southeast Asia due
to projected changes in the hydrological cycle associated with climate
change.
Are you safe ?
More than 80% of the U.S. population
lives in urban areas. As a result, increases in heat waves, drought or
violent storms in cities would affect a larger number of people than in
suburban or rural areas .Native Americans are particularly vulnerable to
projected changes in climate for a number of reasons.
Who are not victim ?
Wide-ranging impacts of climate change have already been documented in
Europe. In southern Europe, higher temperatures and drought may reduce
water availability, hydro power potential, summer tourism, and crop
productivity.
It would be right decision, don’t debate,go forward to stop Carbon Emissions for save our earth, save us.

Bangladesh discovered a new gas field
Sanjoy Chaki
Dhaka,25.06.2014
Bangladesh has
discovered a new gas field at Rupgonj of Narayangonj , thirty minutes car
journey from Dhaka , capital of the country .
It is the number of 26 gas fields in Bangladesh .
The
concern government organization Petrobanla officials told the reporters on the
gas field , We found at least 50 BCF natural gases in this gas field reserve as
per 2D seismic survey. " . Bangladeshi 2D seismic survey teams had been
searching new gas in this area for four years . But we found positive results
from four years"s , told Hossain Monsur , Chairman of Petrobangla . They
started in 2010 .
Bangladesh is an energy
hungry country . They have been producing about two thousand three hundred
MMCFD natural gases from their 25 gas fields . It can't fulfill local gas demand
. At least 5 hundred MMCF gas shortages per day .
Nusrul Hamid , the minister for energy , power
& mineral resources said , We want to more sure the reserves before
digging production well . We have planed 3d seismic surveys by Bapex engineers
in next winter for actual reserves , He added .
Bangladesh has been
generating electricity by high cost HFO & other fuels to 2009 due to
their main primary fuel -natural gas . About 70 percent natural gases are used
in power plants . But it was 80 percent before few years . Some of the power
plants have failed to generate electricity due to shortage of available gas
supply . It's about 800 MWs . About 40 percent citizens of access to the
electricity in Bangladesh
.
They
have to setup four and half KM gas pipeline for consumers use if finally it
commercially viable .
The
state minister hope that they will search more natural gas & oil to
offshore & Onshore Bangladesh . He added , We are ready to new bidding
for IOC

discovered another big gas field in Krishna-Godavari
Basin, the midpoint of Bangladesh and Sri Lanka with assistance from
their local company Reliance. India
has been producing 2.1 billion cubic feet per day from different fields in
Dhirubhai deep-water blocks in the Bay from 2009 which already has 25 trillion
cubic feet (TCF)s of gases.
Prof. Dr. MD. Kawser Ahmed, the Chairman of Oceanography Department of Dhaka University agrees that Bangladesh will explore new gas fields in the disputed gas blocks in the Bays.
‘We will discover at least 30 trillion cubic feet -TCF natural gases which Bangladesh can use for next three decades’, Prof. Kawser said based on the assessment study of United States Geological Survey (USGS) in 2001. “This assessment showed the outlook that Bangladeshi maritime boundaries will have a 30 to 50 TCF gas reserve’s, he added overwhelmingly.
“We will go for International bidding within December 2014 to explore of the deep marine waters of the Bay of Bengal”, said Dr. Hossain Monsur, Chairman of Bangladesh Oil, Gas and Mineral Corporation (PETROBANGLA) on behalf of the Government of Bangladesh..
Hossain Monsur disclosed to The Third Pole, “We want to make the international bidding terms and conditions easier than Myanmar”. He thinks, International oil & gas exploration companies was more liked to Myanmar than Bangladesh because of their terms & condition of production and sharing contract (PSC) .
There is no dispute on maritime blocks
whatsoever with India and Myanmar. Any
international company may bid without worrying much”, he added.
Bangladesh is an energy hungry country, now faced with a shortage of 500 Million Cubic Feet gases per day and it may alarmingly increase in future. But deep water resources may solve their energy crisis and change the economy of this most vulnerable of climate change country.

Bangladesh plans to go International bidding
for exploration of disputed maritime blocks
By Sanjoy Chaki.
Dhaka,Bangladesh,17.07.2014
Bangladesh Energy Ministry plans to go International
bidding in December this year for oil and gas exploration in the disputed deep water
blocks of the Bay of Bengal. The concern
Bangladeshi government official confirmed that now they are working on new bidding
documents.
“We will go for International bidding within December 2014 to explore of the deep marine waters of the Bay of Bengal”, said Dr. Hossain Monsur, Chairman of Bangladesh Oil, Gas and Mineral Corporation (PETROBANGLA) on behalf of the Government of Bangladesh, the concerned government authority.
He disclosed, “We want to make the international bidding terms and conditions easier than Myanmar”. But at the same time, we can explore any of the offshore blocks by our government company BAPEX. “There is no dispute on maritime blocks whatsoever with India and Myanmar. Any international company may bid without worrying much”, he added.
7 July 2014- The Netherlands based Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) gave their verdict on the disputed area of the Bay of Bengal, awarding the greater share of it to Bangladesh. In its verdict, binding on both countries, the court awarded 19,467 square kilometers (7,516 square miles), from a total disputed area of 25,602, to India's smaller neighbor.
In 2012, Bangladesh resolved a similar maritime boundaries dispute with neighboring Myanmar, with a ruling made by the InternationalTribunal on the Law of the Sea in Hamburg.
But in 2008 and 2012, Bangladesh had failed to adequately attract international oil and gas exploration bidders. Only the ConocoPhillips, a leading American oil and gas company attended as bidder and signed a production and sharing contract (PSC) with Bangladesh.
There were 28 blocks, each having exploration areas of between 3,000 to 7,000 Sq km. ConocoPhillips is in process of exploring oil and gas in their two assigned blocks. After the latest PCA verdict, another 6 blocks are fully ready where international bidders can participate for exploration.
“It is a great opportunity for future economy of Bangladesh '', said Salim Mahmud, one of a members of Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC). Now Bangladesh can easily open up its deep water for foreign oil and gas companies to explore for hydrocarbons. “In the bay, there are prospects in plenty and in abundance”, he added in praise of this maritime victory.
India discovered a new gas field at the western part of Bangladesh maritime boundaries, located in Mahanadi basin. Local public oil and gas company ONGC discovered 5 to 7 Trillion cubic feet-TCF. On the other hand, Myanmar discovered gas fields in eastern maritime boundaries of Bangladesh 7 to 10 TCF with assistance from a Korean oil and gas company.

Bangladesh is faced with a shortage of 500 MMCF per day and it may alarmingly increase in future.

But what is going on in USA & develop world to stop Carbon Emissions which are the main cause of Climate change ? What is happening the many develop & developing countries in Asia,Africa,Europe,Latin & North America who are the victims of Climate change ?
I think you should know, ”It is projected that, by 2020, from 500 to 750 million people will be affected by water stress caused by climate change around the world. Low-lying coastal regions, such as Bangladesh, are vulnerable to sea level rise.
I surely believe you can’t avoid statements of U.S. Environmental Protection Agency-EPA.
EPA rightly pointed out the impacts of Climate change from various study. They focused their website,by 2030, increased drought and fire is projected to cause declines in agricultural and forestry production over much of southern and eastern Australia and parts of eastern New Zealand.
In many African countries, other factors already threaten human health. For example, malaria threatens health in southern Africa and the East African highlands.
Sickness and death due to diarrheal disease are projected to increase in east, south, and southeast Asia due to projected changes in the hydrological cycle associated with climate change.
Are you safe ?
More than 80% of the U.S. population lives in urban areas. As a result, increases in heat waves, drought or violent storms in cities would affect a larger number of people than in suburban or rural areas .Native Americans are particularly vulnerable to projected changes in climate for a number of reasons.
Who are not victim ?
Wide-ranging impacts of climate change have already been documented in Europe. In southern Europe, higher temperatures and drought may reduce water availability, hydro power potential, summer tourism, and crop productivity.
It would be right decision, don’t debate,go forward to stop Carbon Emissions for save our earth, save us.

He added , We are ready to new bidding
for IOC
